DescriptionA stamp cover commemorating the 25th anniversary of the first flight in Canada by a woman, Alys McKey Bryant. On the left side of the red, white, and blue air mail envelope is a purple, Philatelists of Vancouver, BC cachet featuring an illustration of a Curtiss biplane with text that reads: Commemorating the / TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY / of the First Flight in Canada by a Woman / ALYS McKEY BRYANT / VANCOUVER, B. C. / July 31, 1913. Above the cachet is an original ink signature: Alys McKey Bryant EB. Additional blue text along the bottom of the envelope reads: VIA AIR MAIL / PRINTED IN U.S.A. / 1913 TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY 1938.
The envelope is addressed to (typed): Mrs. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, / The White House, / Washington, / District of Columbia. U.S.A. Adhered in the upper right corner of the envelope is a Canadian blue 6¢ Mackenzie River Steamer and Seaplane air postage stamp (Scott C6). The envelope is postmarked Vancouver, B.C., July 31, 1938.
On the reverse of the envelope is the typed return address: Mrs. Alys McKey Bryant, EB / Box 56 Benjamin Franklin Station / Washington, D. C. / U.S.A.
The cover has two enclosures, an Alys McKey Bryant postcard and an autobiographical card (see MO 1986.36.2-3).
