DescriptionA color poster encouraging enlistment in the WAAC (Women's Army Auxiliary Corps). On a peach and beige background, the poster features a green-tone photographic image of a woman, dressed in a U.S. Army uniform, walking forward. Seen behind her in the background is a photographic green-tone image of a troop of uniformed WAACs also marching forward. Green and white text above and below the image reads: “Do Your Part, Join the WAAC / WOMEN'S ARMY AUXLLIARY CORPS / UNITED STATES ARMY / APPLY AT ANY U.S. ARMY RECRUITING AND INDUCTION STATION.”

Label TextOn May 15, 1942, FDR signed a bill establishing the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC). In July 1943 the Corps was renamed the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). More than 150,000 women served in the Army during World War II. They worked in a variety of jobs ranging from telephone, radio, and teletype operator to cryptographer, medical technician, aircraft mechanic, and sheet metal worker.
