Next to her is a lunch pail. In the lower left quadrant of the poster is a simulated handwritten letter page from Margie about the importance of saving money and buying U.S. Savings Bonds. In the lower right quadrant of the poster is a list of five check marked ways to save money in the U.S. Army: SOLDIERS' DEPOSITS / PERSONAL TRANSFER ACCOUNT / CLASS E ALLOTMENTS OF PAY / WAR BONDS / NATIONAL SERVICE LIFE INSURANCE. Label TextModel Margie Stewart (1919-2012) appeared in a popular series of U.S. Army posters that encouraged soldiers to buy war bonds and save money for their postwar lives. She was often depicted writing letters to a boyfriend in the service. Stewart was a wartime celebrity and appeared alongside Hollywood stars in war bond tours.
