DescriptionA painting of a young Japanese girl, possibly a shikomi (an apprentice geisha), crouching down on the crest of a hill and picking flowers from the ground. The girl is wearing a red and white patterned kimono with blue, green, and yellow patches, a purple and white flowered obi sash, and zori sandals. The flowers are being put into a small green basket she is holding in her left hand. The artist’s name stamp is in the lower right corner.
Label TextThis painting was presented to Eleanor Roosevelt ca. 1950-1952 by the Hakuhokai Juridical Person, a child welfare agency in Yokohama, Japan.
