DescriptionA Norwegian tine box carved from wood. The sides and removable lid of the oval-shaped box are decorated with a carved acanthus leaf motif. A carved oval on the lid forms a handle. Inscriptions are carved into various parts of the box:

[Underside of the lid] MAY WE ALL BE / UNITED ABLE AND / WILLING TO DO OUR / PART TO PRESERVE / OUR FREEDOM.

[Bottom interior of box] F. D. ROOSEVELT’S THIRD TERM / SO FREEDOM AND / SELF GOVERNMENT / SHALL NOT PERISH / FROM EARTH.

[Underside of box] IN APPRECIATION / FOR SYMPATHY EXPRESSED / BY THE PRESIDENT FOR / NORWAY AND ITS PEOPLE / BY OLE SIMENGAARD / HILLSBORO, N.D.
