DescriptionA World War II Allied leaders commemorative plate. The square, off-white glazed ceramic plate has a gilt edge that is scalloped in the corners. Color images of the American and British flags, intertwined, are at each corner. At the center of the plate are the portrait images of Roosevelt and Churchill backed by the American and British flags. Between the portraits is the Statue of Liberty perched on a globe and backed by a sky full of planes in flight. Below the globe is a banner bearing the words: THE / CHAMPIONS / OF / DEMOCRACY.
On the reverse of the plate is the manufacturer’s mark: ALFRED MEAKIN / MARIGOLD / ASTORIA SHAPE. ALFRED MEAKIN / ENGLAND is stamped below the mark.
