DescriptionA pottery vase. Depicted on the vase is a raised image of a human head topped by an elaborate headdress. Images of arms, a staff, and a shield are also seen. The rest of the vase is decorated with geometric design around the top, and a patterned surface.
Label TextThis Nasca (also Nazca) culture vase is made of clay and was decorated using a pre-fire slip painting method. It is part of a collection of twenty-five selected examples (MO 1942.348.74-95) of pre-Columbian pottery from Peru that was presented to President Roosevelt by His Excellency Manuel Prado, President of the Republic of Peru, on the occasion of his visit to the United States in 1942.
