DescriptionA hand-beaded picture with a patriotic theme. Against a background of gold and dark blue is the image of a red, white, and blue stars and stripes shield. White beading above and below the shield forms text that reads: “PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES / FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT.”

The picture is glazed and framed in a 1" natural wood frame with a carved design along the outer edge. Adhered to the backer paper on the reverse of the frame is a typed label with the gifting information: "Presented To / FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT / By / ALEXANDER BLADES / September-1940.”
Label TextThis beaded picture was sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt in September 1940 by the maker, Alexander Blades, of Norwood, Pennsylvania. In the correspondence Blades sent regarding the picture he indicates that there are 48,419 beads in the picture and that it took him seven months to complete.
