DescriptionA painting of the clipper ship, SCREAMER. It depicts a side view of the three-masted sailing ship with a black painted hull. Shown on open water, its sails are unfurled and it flies the American flag, as well as a flag bearing its name. In the water behind the clipper are seen a number of other ships including another sailing ship (at left) and a steamer ship (at right). A small island with a lighthouse and the outline of a coastline is seen in the distant background. The painting is unsigned.

The painting is framed in a 2½" gilt wood frame.
Label TextThe ship depicted in this painting, the SCREAMER, was built in 1852 by Samuel Dunning of Brunswick, Maine.
