Label TextModel of the screw sloop, USS HARTFORD, made by William L. Schultz. The model was presented to President Roosevelt by a delegation from the Admiral Farragut Post, No. 1195 of the American Legion, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York in September 1938.This is one of four models of the HARTFORD in Roosevelt’s ship model collection. The HARTFORD held a special interest for the President because a Delano ancestor was involved in its construction. The ship served as the flagship of Admiral David Farragut at the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864.
