Label TextThis model of the MARY was created around 1827 by Captain Isaac Delano (1812-1855) of Marion, Massachusetts. Isaac Delano was a distant relation of President Roosevelt. This model had been passed down through his family to Isaac’s grandson, Howard A. Delano of York, Pennsylvania. In July 1933, Howard Delano wrote to Roosevelt offering to give him this heirloom of the Delano family. FDR responded immediately, indicating that he would be delighted to have the model.
