DescriptionA taffeta quilt featuring, at the center, a large American shield with a blue top section and thirteen red and white vertical stripes. The border of the quilt is made of thirty smaller versions of the shield. The back of the quilt is lined with dark blue fabric.
Label TextThis patriotic shield quilt was sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt in September 1943 by Miss Willard H. Boyles on behalf of The Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee. The quilt, which was designed by Reverend John A. Stubbs of Fresno, California, was made by the church’s young people’s department as a gift for the President.
