DescriptionA steel and porcelain commemorative model of a Gazda Sea-Skimmer 102. The object resembles a seaplane with the exception that the wings have been cut off to just above the pontoons and the motor is in the tail. The sea-skimmer is equipped with an anti-aircraft gun in the bow, a machine gun in the stern, machine guns in the wings, depth charges on each pontoon, and a torpedo under the body. The model rests on a stone base resembling the sea and etched into one end of the base: THE RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN. A silver plaque attached to one side of the base is inscribed: GAZDA SEA-SKIMMER / TO THE / COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF / PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT / with compliments / February 1943 Gazda.
