DescriptionA round, lithographed pinback button. At the center, on a dark blue background, is a red, white, and blue illustration of the 4th Liberty Loan Honor Flag with white text above and below that reads: FOURTH / LIBERTY LOAN. Printed along the rim of the button: DESIGN REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. The manufacturer information is printed on the reverse of the button.
Label TextThe Fourth Liberty Loan Act, enacted on September 28, 1918, allowed the sale of liberty bonds during World War I to provide the U.S. Government with money to fund the war. Buttons like this one were worn by Americans on the home front during World War I to show their contribution to the war effort and prompt others to become similarly contribute.
