DescriptionA round 1944 pinback campaign button that has been repurposed as a 1945 memorial piece. At the center, on a white background, is a blue halftone photographic image of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Encircling the edge of the button is a red band on which is white text that reads: "WE ARE GOING TO WIN THIS WAR / AND WIN THE PEACE THAT FOLLOWS." Attached to the reverse of the button are two lengths of ribbon - one white and one black - that hang down below the button.
Label TextMany Franklin D. Roosevelt commemorative memorial buttons, like this one, were created by affixing a black ribbon to a button from one of FDR’s political campaigns.
