DescriptionThree sets of matching yellow homespun drapes, valances, and tiebacks with metal rings at each end. The drapes are lined in silk. Both the drapes and valances have blue trim and embroidered stars. An appliquéd eagle design, representing the Presidential Seal, is at the center of each valance. The drapery set comes with two spools of thread and yellow cording with a needle.
Label TextThese drapes and valences were made in 1941 by workers at the Norfolk, Virginia Works Progress Administration (WPA) Craft Project for FDR’s Private Study in the Library. Reproductions of these original draperies and valances, made in 2013, are currently on display in FDR's PRIVATE STUDY in the Permanent Exhibit.Additional Details
