DescriptionA piece of crystalline milky white quartz rock with veins of darker grey granite. A paper note pasted on the bottom has the following message in the script of Sara Delano Roosevelt: Rock in our woods. / A piece blasted in 1905 / SDR.
Label TextThis quartz rock was found in the woods of the Roosevelt's Hyde Park property in 1905. FDR kept this rock on his Study desk, presumably to use as a paperweight. It is on display on the desk in FDR'S PRIVATE STUDY in the Permanent Exhibit.
