DescriptionA silver plated letter opener for the 1936 Olympiad. Both sides of the aluminum handle are decorated in a blue, green, black, and gold inlaid motif. The Olympics' five-ring emblem is one side of the handle with the text: OLYMPIAD / 1936. There is no manufacturer's information.Label TextPresident Roosevelt kept this souvenir letter opener on his Oval Office desk. It commemorates the 1936 Olympic Games held in Berlin, Germany. The letter opener is on display in the FDR’S OVAL OFFICE DESK exhibit in the Museum’s APRIL 12, 1945 gallery.
