The title of the piece is inscribed on the front of the base: MY FRIEND. Inscribed on the proper right side of the base: F.D.R. Inscribed on the proper left side of the base: I.H.B. / © / 1946. The artist's inscribed signature is on the reverse of the base: By / Isaac H. Boring.
