DescriptionA stamp cover commemorating the release of the 1936 U.S. 1¢ Navy Issue postage stamp featuring naval officers John Paul Jones and John Barry. On the left side of the envelope is a green and black illustrated cachet featuring portraits of Barry (left) and Jones (right) flanking text reading “famous NAVY OFFICERS” and within a framework of patriotic and naval symbolic imagery.

The envelope is addressed to (typed): "The President, / The White House, / Washington, D.C." There is no return address. Adhered vertically along the right side of the envelope are three U.S. 1936 green 1¢ John Paul Jones & John Barry Navy Issue stamps (Scott 790). The envelope is postmarked U. S. S. SCHENCK, April 30, 1937 with a "GALVESTON / TEX" cancellation.
