Descriptiona) A stamp cover commemorating the May 31, 1934 U.S. Navy fleet review in New York by President Franklin D. Roosevelt aboard the USS INDIANAPOLIS. The cover has no cachet.

The envelope is addressed to (handwritten in blue ink): "Franklin D. Roosevelt, / White House, / Washington D.C." Adhered in the upper right corner of the envelope is a U.S. 1934 deep violet 3¢ Mothers of America Issue stamp (Scott 737). The envelope is postmarked U.S.S. INDIANAPOLIS, May 31, 1934 with a "REVIEWING / U.S. FLEET" cancellation.

The return address is stamped in maroon-colored ink on the reverse of the envelope: "ADOLF ALTENBERND / 7808 Lawn Ave. N. W. / CLEVELAND, OHIO, U.S.A."


b) Inside the envelope is a folded note on which the sender's name and address is stamped again, along with a handwritten blue ink note that reads: "Naval Review. / May 31, 1934. / Greetings for the Great Event. / Adolf Altenbernd".
