DescriptionA black and white etching depicting a street scene in Cuernavaca, a Mexican village. Various figures - including a man leading a cow - are seen on the street. Houses are visible on either side of the street. The artist's signature is in pencil below the image in the lower left: A. XIMENEZ. Printed below the signature: FEDERAL ART PROJECT / NYC WPA. The title is written in pencil below the image, center to lower right: Cuernavaca Town / Mexico. On the reverse is the remains of a paper label for the Works Progress Administration with information regarding the artist, title, medium, project number (65-1699X) and the date (8/21/36). The label is also date stamped: SEP 5 1936.
