DescriptionAn American Red Cross hat, size 22½, made of blue seersucker fabric. A metal and enamel Red Cross pin is attached to the bow on the front of the hat. A maker's tag is sewn on the interior of the crown: Abercrombie / & Fitch Co. / New York." A size tag is sewn on the interior back.
Label TextEleanor Roosevelt wore this hat with her summer weight Red Cross uniform during her 25,000 mile tour of the South Pacific in August-September 1943 as a representative of the American Red Cross. The First Lady also brought along a second uniform made of wool to wear during her trip. This hat is on display on a rotational schedule in the ER’S WARTIME TRAVELS exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.Additional Details
