DescriptionA thin, chromium bracelet. Inscribed on the exterior of the bracelet: CPL. WILLIAM WOELLINGTON U.S.M.C. GUADALCANAL, 1942 CPL. EDWARD POLLACK. TO HELL WITH THE EMPEROR, THREE CHEERS FOR ELEANOR. Inscribed on the interior: TO ELEANOR ROOSEVELT FROM CPL. CHARLES COULTER BENKERT, JR. BAT A-938 F.A. U.S.A.
Label TextDuring World War II, Eleanor Roosevelt received letters and presents from many young people serving in the military. This bracelet was a gift from three servicemen on Guadalcanal. It is on display in the LEADING BY EXAMPLE exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.
