DescriptionA woven Chimayo wall hanging featuring the National Recovery Administration (NRA) Blue Eagle logo. At the center of a cream-colored background is the blue eagle symbol consisting of a solid blue eagle and the words "NRA / US” in red text above and to the side of it. Wide bands consisting of red, blue, and black horizontal stripes are above and below the logo. The top and bottom edges of the wall hanging have blue-gray fringes.
Label TextMarcos Abreu of Santa Fe, New Mexico, a weaver and dealer of Chimayo blankets, sent Franklin D. Roosevelt this handwoven wall blanket in September 1943. In a letter to President Roosevelt, Abreu writes that he is an ardent supporter of FDR's NRA program and that he is sending the blanket that he made as a token "for your great program of Recovery."
