Lejaren A. Hiller Sr.American photographer and illustrator, 1880 - 1969

Milwaukee-born illustrator and commercial photographer Lejaren Hiller studied painting and illustration at the Chicago Art Institute and worked in studios in Paris before turning to photographic work in the early 20th century. Hiller became a pioneer of American photographic illustration. His photography appeared widely in major magazines and national advertisements. During World War II Hiller created a series of photographic posters for the armed services.
