Description1) A poster featuring a color painted illustration showing a pair of hands, with broken chains at the wrists, rising in front of a tattered Dutch flag attached to the remains of a tree. Behind the flag is a crumbling brick wall with smoke seen rising from destroyed houses and windmills in the background. Set over the lower portion of the illustration is a black and white printed poem entitled, "AN OPEN LETTER TO THE UNCONQUERABLE DUTCH By JOSEPH AUSLANDER / PAINTING BY JOHN ATHERTON," followed by a poem. Printed in the bottom right corner of the poster: "— from The Saturday Evening Post."
2) A paper folder titled "TRIBUTE TO THE UNCONQUERABLES by Joseph Auslander.” Also on the folder is a printed round seal in the upper left depicting shackled hands encircled by the words, "FREE THE VALIANT… SPEED VICTORY / BUY WAR BONDS." The folder contains a series of posters (MO 2010.8.1-5) including the one above.
3) Enclosed in the folder is a printed letter by Joseph Auslander titled, "THE OPEN LETTERS TO THE UNCONQUERABLES: The story of the tributes to the submerged peoples of Europe and of the distinguished poet who wrote them."
