Physical DescriptionA pair of plaster bookends (a,b) with an ivory pearlized finish. The bookends each have a cast bust of FDR turned slightly to the proper right and wearing a suit and tie. Beneath each bust is the text: F.D. Roosevelt. The backsides and undersides of each bookend is lined with green felt.Historical NoteFranklin Roosevelt loomed large in American popular culture. Elected to four terms as America’s president, he became a familiar presence on the radio and in newspapers, magazines, and newsreels. Inevitably, his well-known likeness appeared on products such as these bookends. They are on display in the ROOSEVELT IN POP CULTURE exhibit in the Museum’s NEW DEAL gallery.
