Physical DescriptionAn original black and white cartoon titled along the bottom, “THE GOOD NEIGHBOR!” It depicts Franklin D. Roosevelt standing on the sidewalk of a street corner, a building behind him. He is holding a large club in his left hand while his right hand rests on the shoulder of a Canadian Royal Mountie standing next to him. FDR is seen saying “MON AMI!” to the Mountie while looking at three armed thugs (caricatures of Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Emperor Hirohito) peering from around the corner of the building. The artist's signature is in the lower right corner: “JOHN COLLINS.” The artist also wrote and signed a note in pencil in the lower left corner: “Printed in the French-Canadian weekly “Le Jour” after President Roosevelt’s Peace Bridge speech. / John Collins.”
