Physical DescriptionAn original black and white cartoon titled at the top, “His Pet Housing Project.” It depicts Franklin D. Roosevelt at the reins of a covered wagon hitched to a mule (or donkey). Written on the side of the wagon: “THIRD TERM ER BUST / POLITICAL ‘COVERED’ WAGON.” FDR has a dreamy look on his face and a thought bubble above him shows an image of the White House. The artist’s signature is in the lower right corner: “HUNGERFORD.”
Historical NoteThis cartoon was likely published in 1940 in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which the artist, Cy Hungerford, worked for at the time.
