Physical DescriptionA printed copy of a cartoon from LIFE magazine featuring Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt in the White House. The black and white cartoon, with color highlights, depicts a bedroom in the White House. FDR is seated in an armchair, reading the comics section of a newspaper, while Eleanor is looking over his shoulder and chastising him. In the background, the heads of a young girl and boy are seen peeping through a partially open set of arched doors. The artist's facsimile signature is printed in the upper right corner of the cartoon: MAS/SAG/UER.

Above the cartoon is the printed name of the magazine ("LIFE"), while below the cartoon is a caption that reads: For Heaven's sake, Franklin, let Sistie and Buzzie have the funnies!

The cartoon is glazed and framed in a decorative wood frame painted dark silver-gray.
Historical NoteThis framed cartoon from “Life” magazine belonged to Anna Roosevelt Halsted, the daughter of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. It is her children, Eleanor (Sistie) Dall Seagraves and Curtis (Buzzie) Roosevelt, that are appear in the cartoon.
