DescriptionA British World War II propaganda poster. The color poster consists of a large, cartoon-like illustration of a single merchant ship on open water moving towards a fleet of other ships in the distance. In the air above the ship are two German Luftwaffe airplanes with shark-like faces, and in the water is a group of submarine periscopes moving in on the ship. Black text along the bottom of the poster reads: HOW TO JOIN THE STRAGGLER'S CLUB / (SUBSCRIPTIONS IN ADVANCE PLEASE). The artist's facsimile initials and the date are in the lower right of the illustration: JE 1941.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 17, 1941. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
