DescriptionA Chinese watercolor painting on pith paper showing an inlet scene. In the forefront of the scene is an inlet, flanked by a shoreline on either side, leading to a large body of water in the background. The front part of the inlet is lined with bricks or blocked stones that end with a wooden footbridge crossing high over the water and a tall, narrow building on the tree-lined left bank. A figure is seen crossing the footbridge while another approaches from the right side.

The painting is adhered to a larger piece of silk gauze and mounted within a window mat.
Label TextThis painting is one in a collection of twenty-seven individual Chinese watercolors (MO 1979.50.1-27) featuring birds, fish, and landscape scenes. The collection is housed in a custom clamshell box on the spine of which is embossed, "F. D. R. / CHINESE RICE PAPER PAINTINGS."
