DescriptionA Chinese watercolor painting on pith paper showing a landscape scene. In the center forefront is a small waterfall amongst a hilly landscape. A group of trees is on the left side, and on the right is a small building that sits on a rise. The waterfall is crossed by a simple wooden footbridge. A figure is seen crossing the bridge while several others are visible near the building. The scene is completed by a series of mountains in the distant background.
The painting is adhered to a larger piece of silk gauze and mounted within a window mat.
Label TextThis painting is one in a collection of twenty-seven individual Chinese watercolors (MO 1979.50.1-27) featuring birds, fish, and landscape scenes. The collection is housed in a custom clamshell box on the spine of which is embossed, "F. D. R. / CHINESE RICE PAPER PAINTINGS."The painting is adhered to a larger piece of silk gauze and mounted within a window mat.
