DescriptionA Chinese watercolor painting on pith paper showing a cove scene. On the right side of the cove are two small buildings, one sitting on stilts in the water and the other on the shore. A small outdoor shrine is on the left side of the cove with a small footbridge leading up to it. Several figures are visible on either side of the cove, and a traditional Chinese boat is seen on the water at the center of the cove.

The painting is adhered to a larger piece of silk gauze and mounted within a window mat.
Label TextThis painting is one in a collection of twenty-seven individual Chinese watercolors (MO 1979.50.1-27) featuring birds, fish, and landscape scenes. The collection is housed in a custom clamshell box on the spine of which is embossed, "F. D. R. / CHINESE RICE PAPER PAINTINGS."
